Aosta, Italy
Aosta is a gorgeous northwestern Italian town tucked up against the French and Swiss borders.
GO
Explore ancient Roman ruins and medieval bell towers. Aosta’s Roman history is scattered around the mountain town, and includes the Porta Pretoria, the Teatro Romano and the ruins of an ampitheatere. Plan on spending about half a day enjoying the sights, most of which are free.
Hike in the Valle d’Aosta. It’s easy to be active here. In fact, I’m not sure why you would visit unless you plan to take advantage of the hiking, skiing and sight-seeing in this gorgeous Alpine region. I went in the summer, and took a cable car up the
Fly fishing.

There aren’t a ton of hotels in the downtown area, so I’d check out available Airbnbs.
