Holiday Gifts For Your Foodie Friend

‘Tis the season for parties, performances, and presents. Lots of presents. Buying the perfect holiday gift for a food friend can be so much fun, but narrowing down the many possibilities is often overwhelming. So here’s a little list if you are in need of inspiration: a few of my favorite things. And don’t forget to shop local if you can, as in gift cards from shops and restaurants in your neighborhood.

May the rest of your month be merry and bright.

  1. S. Pellegrino Presents Stanley Tucci’s Stelline Two Ways: Brodo Di Gallina Con Polpettine Di Pollo And Pastina Classica ($89)

What a meal kit! This has two of my favorite things: Stanley Tucci and stelline (little star) pasta. Your lucky recipient needs to pick the delivery date and cook the meal within 3 days of delivery.

2. Do Lets Have Another Drink: The Singular Wit and Double Measures of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother by Gareth Russell ($15)

“Do Let’s Have Another Drink: The Singular Wit and Double Measures of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother” is the perfect gift for the friend who loves both The Crown and cocktails. Though the Queen Mother was never a fan of that word. She preferred “drinky-poo” instead.

3. ThermoPop 2 Meat Thermometer ($35)

A stocking stuffer for the meat lover in your life.

4. Hot Sauce Subscription ($175.00)

For your spiciest friend: a subscription for one year of hot sauce deliveries. I’m especially loving the last delivery, a DIY kit with everything needed to make custom sauces from scratch.

5. Eater:100 Essential Restaurant Recipes ($31)

Though Eater is known for its restaurant reviews, not recipes, I was intrigued enough to buy this cookbook their first, earlier this year. I highly recommend it.

6. Wild Mushroom and Sage Olive Oil from Pour Olive ($6-33.95)

Try it drizzled over steak or poured generously into spaghetti with mushrooms and herbs. Other favorite infused oils include the Spicy Calabrian Pesto, Harissa (also has a little kick) and Tuscan Herb.

7. Le Cruset Round Dutch Oven in Olive ($249.99 - $625.00)

A splurge for your favorite foodie, even if you go for the smallest (2 quart) size. But worth it, just perfect for making cozy soups all winter long.

(and Santa, won’t the Olive look amazing in my kitchen?)

8. Spatula Earrings from Sea Salt and Sage ($26)

I found these lovely spatula earrings a couple of weekends ago at a holiday market here in Charlotte. Created by Melanie at Sea Salt and Sage.

9. Athena’s Tool Kit By Material Kitchen ($115)

I’m a massive fan of Eyeswoon: its recipes, More Than One Thing podcast, and The NINES (check it out for advice on styling kitchen shelves, outdoor dining essentials, and other great culinary content). Athena’s tool kit is a curated collection of kitchen essentials, perfect for a housewarming gift, college grads or newlyweds.

10. Dinner with the President: Food, Politics, and a History of Breaking Bread at the White House ($35) by Alex Prud’homme

For your history buff food friend: White House dinner parties, presidential diets, and even presidential families’ favorite recipes, including Jefferson’s salad with tarragon vinaigrette and Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “reverse martini.”
